Behind the Bestiary: Twin Alpha
This was one of my favorite vignettes to illustrate. From watching Teen Wolf, I never knew that the Twin Alpha had a double spine. But then I saw a production still from MTV with the note “IT HAS TWO FREAKING SPINES!!!”
The anatomist in me was excited to figure out why Twin Alphas have double spines (A: they are basically the Pacific Rim Jaegers of Werewolves) and how a double spine could be constructed that wouldn’t make itself obvious in a live figure (A: well, you can see my solution in the sketch above).
I included the ribbon on the right as both a joke on the flying clothes/ribbons that were used for morality purposes in classical paintings (plus, I’m skeptical of those magic jeans that can merge along with the Carver twins on Teen Wolf), and to help explain that the sketch is of an Alpha transformation in progress.
